Special FX and Theatrical Makeup

This session will be led by one of our facilitators who has trained in theatrical makeup and can share their knowledge and experience with young people.

Using the same products used by professional theatre and film companies, participants can learn how to create cuts, bruises, burns and scars using theatrical makeup.

Learn how to age someone, create light and shade and create your own fun theatrical characters using stage makeup.

We often run creative workshops and events for information on this or any of our community activities please contact our community manager Lorna at community@marinatheatre.co.uk

Puppet Making and Performance Workshop

We will be creating characters, making puppets and then devising stories to perform with our puppets.

This is a space to explore character development, learn how to perform a short story or scene using puppets.

Bring your own story to life using characters you have created or some of our pre-made ones.

Explore voice and tone and have fun!

For more information or to ask any questions about this or on any of our activities please email our community and outreach manager Lorna at community@marinatheatre.co.uk.

Samba Drumming and Creative Rhythm

Our Samba band leader and professional music facilitator Marcus will teach you how to play the rhythms of Samba.

Each person will have the opportunity to try several different samba instruments and learn a piece of music that would usually be played in a parade or carnival.

There will be breaks for lunch and snacks some opportunities to get creative too.

This activity is fun for all personality types and can be a great way to relax into the rhythm or rock out, shake to the shakers, mindfully or meditatively melt into the sounds and learn new percussion skills.

Storytelling and Creative Writing

Come and join Simon Bridge who has previously worked as an educational workshop lead for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

He has led numerous workshops in schools, helping children and young people to discover their own creativity, develop characters and build a narrative. Come along, get creative and write your own story!
