Our Funders

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of all of our funders, as well as the generous donations from individuals and supporters.

The Marina Theatre Trust is funded by:

Lowestoft Town Council:

Lowestoft Town Council are our Landlords and principal stakeholders and work with the Marina Theatre Trust to keep our building looking its best.

During our initial reopening phase in 2021 Lowestoft Town Council generously contributed £4,129 to the Marina Theatre Trust to the costs of PPE and the installation of vital new items such as the ventilation fans in the Café and Box Office, and in the Administration Office.

Since then, they have assisted with upgrades to the Auditorium; investing £41,000 in a phased replacement of our stage lighting system to a fully LED rig. Phase one was completed in December 2022. This not only modernises our technical offer on stage but helps to make the building much more energy efficient. Lowestoft Town Council continue to support our on-going maintenance and upgrades including purchase of a new Sound Desk and vital upgrades to our Flying system due to be completed in Summer 2023.

Arts Council England:

We receive support from The National Lottery through Arts Council England for specific projects, for example, our organisational redevelopment study in 2017.

We have also been awarded £309,922 as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure we have a sustainable future. The Culture Recovery Fund grants programme has been administered by Arts Council England on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Making Waves Together:

Making Waves Together, is a wider partnership project led jointly by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Waveney District Council, and funded by the national Great Place Scheme, which is seeing communities and organisations in both areas work together to boost the cultural offer and drive cultural re-imagination as a way of supporting success in the seaside towns.

Making Waves Together is largely funded with a grant from the Great Place Scheme, delivered by Arts Council England, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England.

Theatres Trust:

We have been generously awarded a grant from the Theatres Trust’s ‘Theatre Reopening Fund’ to help with the additional costs associated with meeting new Covid-safe requirements.
