Classic films to be showcased on our big screen!

As part of our Vintage Flicks scheme, we have announced two films that can be enjoyed on our big screen in the months ahead.

After this year’s release of Dunkirk proved extremely popular at the Marina Theatre, we have decided to screen the original 1958 version of the film (PG) on Monday, October 9 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

A group of soldiers led by Corporal “Tubby” Bins (John Mills), stranded in France, must make their way to the shores of Dunkirk in hopes of a rescue. Back in Britain, Charles Foreman (Bernard Lee), a newspaper reporter, desperately tries to raise awareness among the public of the horrible reality of the war.

When the British navy calls for all civilian ships to aid in a rescue, Foreman takes out his own small boat and attempts to bring Tubby and his men home safely.

This 1958 Ealing studios production blends newsreel footage and an all-star cast of some of the finest British actors of its time, including Richard Attenborough, John Mills & Bernard Lee.

You can book for the film, which will be shown in black and white, HERE.

And if that wasn’t enough, we are also showing It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) (U) on Saturday 25th November at 2.30pm & 7.30pm

After George Bailey (James Stewart) wishes he had never been born, an angel (Henry Travers) is sent to earth to make George’s wish come true. George starts to realize how many lives he has changed and impacted, and how they would be different if he was never there.

Originally made for Liberty Films, It’s a Wonderful Life is one of the most popular and heart-warming films ever made by director Frank Capra. Frank Capra regarded this film as his own personal favourite – it was also James Stewart’s favourite of all his feature films.

You can book for the film, which will be shown in black and white, HERE.

Our Vintage Flicks scheme signifies that we are showing an older or classic film with the screening tailored to guests over 60, but open to all. All tickets for these films are £4.50 and include a standard tea or coffee. Ts & Cs apply.

Not valid in conjunction with any other offer

And why not join us in October for a number of top films including Wind River, God’s Own Country, Borg V McEnroe and Victoria and Abdul.

We do hope that you can join us!
