Our Up Stage programme is specially designed and curated to enhance your experience of selected performances and screenings.

Whether it’s the process of bringing a novel on stage, the world of musical theatre or different interpretations of a Shakespeare play, we hope to make your visit even better!

Hyde and Seek – The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde – Tuesday 6th February

2 – 4pm – cost £15

Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic gothic tale of duality and darkness has thrilled and chilled readers for years.  This specially designed practical workshop will allow you to delve into the text and explore its themes and ideas, as well as look at the challenges of adapting it for the stage.

Introduction to Musical Theatre – Beyond the Barricade – Friday 16th March

2 – 4pm (18+), 4.30 – 6pm (9-17 years) – cost £15

Learn all about the world of Musical Theatre, the history, how it’s evolved and changed over the years, and how productions are put together.  This hands on workshop will include songs and dances from classic shows, and some shows less well known.

Our arms were once wings… Swan Lake: Vienna Ballet – Saturday 31st March

2 – 4pm (18+), 4.30 – 6pm (9-17 years) – cost £15

These workshops are an ideal way to gain an understanding and appreciation of the discipline, craft and art of ballet.  Whatever your skill level or knowledge of ballet, whether you’re a dancer or just curious, you’ll find this workshop informative, engaging and fun.

If you must break the law, do it to seize power – RSC Julius Caesar – Monday 23rd April 

2 – 5pm (18+)

Have you come to bury Caesar or to praise him?  Join us as we unpack the complexities of Shakespeare’s classic political epic, demystify the language  and discover the hidden motivations of Mark Anthony, Brutus and Caesar himself.

Then catch our screening of the RSC’s 2016 production starring Ben Whishaw.

Blow Your Own Trumpet – A Night at the Movies from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – Friday 22nd June

2 – 4pm – £15

Get up close and personal with the instruments of an orchestra.  This hands on workshop will give you a chance to experience the life of a concert musician as you learn about (and attempt to play) items from the brass, woodwind, string and percussion sections.
