The Children Act

The Children Act

The Children Act tells the story of a judge who is asked to rule on the case of a young boy, suffering from cancer, whose parents won’t allow a blood transfusion.

It’s a simple medical procedure, and it could save his life – but the family are Jehovah’s Witnesses, and they consider transfusions against their beliefs. And yet, because the boy is legally a minor, the judge can overrule his parents’ wishes if they’re not what’s best for him.

Based on the novel by Ian McEwan, ‘The Children Act’ stars Emma Thompson, Fionn Whitehead and Stanley Tucci.

‘Thompson never disappoints, nailing every nuance of a judge who lets the world in at the cost of losing her own judgment. This is acting of the highest order’ – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
