The Marina Theatre is searching for new Trustees to join the board to help drive forward the changes within the organisation.
We are looking or people who share our passion and ambition who can bring skills, knowledge and experience that will complement that of existing board members.
In addition, we are specifically looking for applicants with various skill sets including legal, accountancy/finance, HR and fundraising.
We value a diverse team and welcome applications from all sectors of the community, including both those who are new to non-executive/ trustee board work, and individuals who have a proven track record in senior governance roles.
The Marina Theatre is a theatre and cinema in Lowestoft, Suffolk, the UK’s most easterly town. The theatre is at the cultural heart of the Waveney and Suffolk community and hosts a diverse programme including musicals, drama, comedy, opera, ballet, music, community performances as well as operating a successful cinema operation including theatrical live screenings.
We also play host to our long-standing orchestral series featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which has been resident since 2005. Every December we welcome a family pantomime welcoming 12,000 people.
We are passionate about promoting the arts and are proud to say we are visited by around 80,000 people each year. Our iconic Edwardian building is a landmark in Lowestoft, with a 775-seater auditorium, a beautiful Art Deco Circle Bar and a fresh & modern ground floor café bar.
The Board also has responsibility for the Charity’s vision and strategy which is developed in conjunction with the Chief Executive.
The day-to-day management of the company is delegated to the Chief Executive. However, the ultimate responsibility for the company’s operation lies with the Board of Directors, so all Members are encouraged to gain a good working knowledge of the key operational and strategic challenges facing the management team and to keep abreast of any major external issues that might affect the company/charity.
