Glinka’s rollicking Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture is a showpiece for orchestra, featuring as it does Russian folk music and breathtaking tempo and rhythm. Beethoven’s Concerto is regarded as one of the most important works of the violin concerto repertoire, providing the perfect opportunity for young virtuoso Chloë Hanslip to showcase her talents. The concert concludes with Dvorák’s outgoing and exuberant Eighth Symphony.
