Following its refurbishment and
re-opening in 1988, the Friends of the Marina raised funds to help purchase much needed equipment and resources. Although this original membership scheme ended some years ago, I am delighted that the management at the Marina is now launching their new Priority Friend scheme. The past few years have seen some of the most spectacular productions visit the Marina, most notably the Moscow City Ballet, World Class Opera companies and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The return of regular professional touring productions to Lowestoft has proved a marvellous addition to the Marina’s busy programme which continues to offer top music, comedy, film and variety artistes as well as involving the local community including dance schools, historical events and amateur dramatics. I am delighted that, over the past few years, the Marina has gone from strength to strength and hope that with the continued support of all of us, the Theatre will be at the heart of the town for many years to come.
